Metal or asphalt roof on your new Hernando County, FL home?

Most of us have shingle roofs but some people are converting to metal roofs, when their roof requires replacement. Metal is more expensive but it can last almost 50 years (that would out-live me). With the proper coating it is more energy efficient and can stand up to better to strong winds and Florida being known for hurricanes, that is a good consideration.
I don't personally like the way they look, but the "look" isn't everything.
