It appears as if the differences between the House version and the Senate version of the new economic stimulus bill have been negotiated!
Democrats in the Senate needed at least two republican votes, and received three, to get the 60 votes that are needed to pass the bill, although not one republican voted for the House version, the House Democrats have a big enough majority that the bill was able to pass.
With a cost of $789 billion, Sen. Harry Reid stated that the new agreement will spend less than the original House bill and will create more jobs than the original Senate bill.
The new agreement focuses on making sure that Americans will be given an opportunity to keep the jobs that have and to create new jobs for those that have found themselves unemployed, according to Sen. Ben Nelson from Nebraska, he calls the new bill a "jobs bill".
The revised bill is to be on President Obama's desk by President's Day, Sen. Max Baucus from Montana and chairman of the Senate Finance Committee stated that it is possible that the both the Senate and the House bills could be taken up by Friday!
