More good news for Hillsborough County in Florida! Tampa Electric plans on cutting back on electric rates due to the declining cost of fuel! The price reduction of $13 may only be temporary, as the company is looking to increase the costs once again come springtime.
In January of 2009, Tampa Electric rose utility bills by 12% due to last years incredible rising fuel costs, while Progress Electric dropped a 24% increase on it's customers to cover not only the rising fuel costs but also its $17 billion nuclear plant planned for Levy County.
While struggling with foreclosures, declining property values and unemployement, the customers of these two companies have been outraged with the increase of their utility bills.
Although, Progress Energy and Tampa Electric have both given relief, keep in mind it could only be temporary as the base rates could increase come May! Enjoy it while you can!
