Among the many reasons that folks relocate to Florida, the incredible fishing is one of the main ones! Take a gander below at the top ten fishing spots in state, it could help in deciding where in Florida you wish to relocate to!

  • Lake Jackson is located north of Tallahassee in Hardee County and provides ample opportunities for catching Largemouth Bass, Bluegill and Shellcracker. Although the lake is only 4,000 acres, it is shallow and offers some of the best fishing in the state.
  • Lake George is the second largest lake in Florida, next to Lake Okeechobee, and derives from the St. Johns River in Putnam County. Providing Largemouth Bass, Bluegill and Shellcracker, it is one of the leading top ten fishing spots in Florida.
  • There are so many reasons to head out to the Florida Everglades, but the fishing should be top on the list. 210 Sq miles of marsh and canals, added with 730 sq miles of wetlands covering both Collier and Miami-Dade counties, fishing is optimal. Catching Snook, tarpon, redfish, cobia and grouper is just another day of fishing in the Florida Everglades.
  • Tenorac Area was once a phosphate mine only less than 10 miles northeast of Lakeland in Lake County. 6,400 acres of marshes and small lakes inhabit the area; only 758 of them are open to Largemouth Bass, Bluegill and Shellcracker fishing, but WOW...what a haul you can bring home from Tenorac.
  • Lake Weohyakapka, also known as "Walk in Water" is a 7,534 acre lake south of Orlando in Polk County and is well known for its large trophy mouth bass! 2-4 pound bass is the most common size but catching a 10 pounder can be done rather easily as well. Although the daily limit is set to 3 per day, it is not uncommon for anglers to catch between 15-20 bass a day in Lake Weohyakapka.
  • Lake Okeechobee is the second largest freshwater lake in the continental United States! Located in south central Florida in Okeechobee County, this lake covers 730 sq miles of Largemouth Bass, Speckled Perch, Okeechobee Catfish, Black Crappie and Bream! The spots around the lake to go is Eagle Bay Island, Pelican bay and Fisheating Bay.
  • The Stick Marsh Reservoir was created by the flooding of 6,500 acres of former farmland in Indian River County and is now the home to Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Red Ear Sunfish, Black Crappie and a host of different Catfish species. Try fishing the southern part of Farm 13, I hear it's the best!
  • Beautiful Lake Tarpon located in Pinellas County northwest of Tampa is prime for Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Black Crappie, Blue Tilapia, Catfish and Sunfish. Fish along the cattails and any clumps of vegetation around the south end of the lake you’ll be amazed at what you can bring up!
  • Lake Kissimmee is part of the famous chain of lakes and lies in both Polk and Osceola County. 35,000 acres of rolling Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Black Crappie and Shellcracker fill this lake!
  • Keep traveling just south of Kissimmee in Osceola County and you'll run into the shallow 18,810 acre Lake Tohopekaliga known to locals as Lake Toho. Lake Toho specializes in Largemouth Bass, Bluegill and Shellcracker.
